Meet the Library Staff

Katey Johnson, Librarian

Welcome to the library! The Lawrence library is a fantastic resource with a books of all varieties.  There's something for everyone, from up-to-date Kansas City Chiefs books to books on animals, gorgeous picture books, exciting chapter books, and Spanish titles. We also have a set of computers, thanks to a generous donor, that the students use to do research and access educational games and websites.

I have taught Pre-K and Kindergarten, as well as teaching and leading STEM camps for K-6 students in the summer. My focus in the library is promoting accessible literacy and building a love of reading.

Guide to Book Care

  • Keep your books in a safe place.
  • Return your books on time.
  • Do not eat or drink while reading library books.
  • Wash and dry your hands before reading library books.
  • Keep books away from pets and little ones. They do not know how to take care of books!
  • Never draw or write in a library book!
  • Always use a bookmark!
  • If the library book has been damaged, bring it to your librarian. They will repair it if they can. DO NOT REPAIR THE BOOK YOURSELF! Your librarian has the right tools and training to fix books.
  • If you lose your book or it is damaged while in your care, you will need to pay to replace it. Talk to your librarian.
